Textbook Notes: Rocks and the Rock Cycle

From the weekly textbook reading, I learned all about the rocks and the rock cycle this week. There are three main types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. It was most helpful to see how all of these rocks are actually classified. Igneous forms when magma cools. Sedimentary forms when small particles called sediments are compacted together over time. Then metamorphic rocks form when existing rocks undergo heat and pressure.
